After raising not one, two, or three, but four boys – who are all now adult men – we check in on Beth & Hoyt as they seek a part-time retirement home. Thinking they have settled on Hawaii, after several extended family vacations and business trips throughout the islands, the couple is on a quest for someplace suitable to focus on themselves, one another, and their wellness needs.
During their most recent visit last month, we wanted to know what Palette Pleasers were the highlight of their soon-to-be new locale. They chose two:
Tsuru Ton Tai Udon Noodle Brasserie located at the Royal Hawaiian Center in downtown Waikiki
Chicken Udon fresh house-made Japanese udon noodles, the broth is a unique mix of kombu kelp and bonito and various craft soy sauces.
Local Tomatoes from Hauula & Ho Farm, whipped tofu, cilantro, lemon balm, burnt strawberry, guava vinaigrette, toasted buckwheat, basil seeds
Grilled Sea Scallops served in the shell, uni & chili sate butter, meyer lemon, chives
Chicken Liver Pate – calamansi marmalade, pink pepper, rau ram herb, toasted baguette
